Our Story
Hart Rentals was founded at the end of 2021 by brothers Zach and Max Hart—lifelong car enthusiasts with deep family roots in the automotive industry. Nearly every member of their family has worked in or around the car business, shaping the way they approached building their own company.
The business began with a single vehicle: a 2016 Polaris Slingshot. Soon after, Max added his personal 2015 Ford Fusion. Every dollar earned was reinvested into the business, allowing the fleet to grow steadily through cash purchases of affordable, revenue-producing vehicles.
As the fleet expanded to 5, then 10, then 15 vehicles, operations were run entirely out of Zach’s driveway. After outgrowing the residential setup, Hart Rentals secured its first official office—a modest 700-square-foot space with a small lot in Phoenix. Over the next year, the fleet grew to 25 vehicles, eventually leading to a larger facility to support continued expansion.
Today, Hart Rentals continues to scale with the same principles it was founded on: reinvesting profits, operating efficiently, and building a long-term, sustainable automotive rental business.

Zach Hart – Co-Founder
Born and raised in Phoenix, Arizona, Zach Hart’s passion for cars started early and never faded. While still in high school, Zach worked as a lot attendant at a dealer auction, gaining firsthand exposure to the automotive industry from the ground up. After graduating, he attended Northern Arizona University while working as a ski lift operator, learning discipline, responsibility, and the value of hard work.
After college, Zach returned to the automotive world full-time, working as both a car salesman and later as a service technician at a local dealership. This combination of sales and mechanical experience gave him a deep, practical understanding of vehicles—how they perform, how they break, and how to keep them reliable.
Hart Rentals was built out of Zach’s driveway. For the first two years, the business operated with 5–15 vehicles parked along his residential street. While the neighbors weren’t thrilled, those early days laid the foundation for the company. After receiving a third complaint, Zach and Max made the leap to their first official office, marking a major milestone in the business’s growth.
Max Hart – Co-Founder
Born and raised in Phoenix, Arizona, Max Hart entered the automotive world at a young age. By 18, he was already buying, fixing, and flipping inexpensive cars, developing a strong understanding of vehicle values, negotiation, and inventory movement.
Max’s passion expanded into content creation through a YouTube channel reviewing supercars and luxury vehicles, which helped him develop skills in branding, marketing, and audience engagement. While attending college, Max realized entrepreneurship was his future and left school to co-found Hart Rentals alongside his brother, Zach.
At Hart Rentals, Max leads partnerships, vehicle acquisition, and marketing. He is responsible for sourcing and structuring vehicle deals, building relationships with investors and strategic partners, and driving the company’s brand, online presence, and growth strategy. His focus is on scaling the company through smart acquisitions, strong partnerships, and modern marketing while maintaining long-term profitability.

Hart Car Rentals is built by operators, not executives. We manage the same vehicles we rent. We experience the same depreciation, maintenance cycles, customer issues, and operational challenges firsthand. Every system we use is tested in real-world conditions before it ever scales.
Our Long-Term Vision
Our long-term goal is to build a Tesla-focused rental and fleet ecosystem across as many markets as possible. As autonomous technology and robotaxi infrastructure mature, we believe fleet density, operational data, and market presence will determine who wins.
